Snehatheeram

Snehatheeram, “Shore of Love”, was started in January 2004 in ernakulam Kerala. It started functioning as a resource centre for PLHA and their families providing psychological, emotional and spiritual support, information about treatment options and prevention of the spread of HIV/AIDS.  Special focus is given in changing the attitude of the society as to bring down the harshness of social stigma of HIV/AIDS by awareness campaigns.  Now it has grown into a full-fledged Community Care Centre which has the facility to provide treatment and care to 35 PLHA with a priority for the palliative care of those in the end stage of the disease. The Centre is  located in West Kadungallooor, Aluva.

Major Activities

• Community care centre for PLHA.
• Spiritual animation of health care professionals.
• Vocation Promotion.
• Sharing of Camillian Charism with Laity.
• Training of health care personnel in HIV/AIDS management.
• Value based prevention programs in collaboration with the Arch diocese of Ernakulam to control HIV infections.
